A survey by Granc Research reveals that China's cable-based HD digital television sector experienced rapid growth in 2014. Throughout the year, the number of cable-based HD digital TV subscribers—referred to as "HD users"—surpassed 17 million households, accounting for 70% of the total annual increase in cable-based digital TV subscribers and marking a record-high annual growth rate. Meanwhile, the annual growth in standard-definition (SD) cable digital TV subscribers showed a declining trend. Notably, this year, the increase in HD users was 2.3 times greater than the growth in SD users.
