China Media Group will launch the country's first satellite-based ultra-high-definition TV channel—CCTV 4K—on October 1. At that time, viewers in the initial batch of 13 provincial-level regions and cities, including Beijing, Guangdong, and Shanghai, will be able to enjoy this cutting-edge visual experience through their cable TV networks. The debut of the 4K channel marks another solid step forward for China Media Group as it strives to become a world-class, innovative mainstream media outlet with unparalleled influence, reach, and global leadership.

4K ultra-high-definition channels available in multiple regions

Recently, the 4K ultra-high-definition television channel broadcasting platform of China Media Group has completed acceptance testing and will now be transmitted nationwide via the ChinaSat 6A satellite and the national cable TV trunk network. Starting October 1, cable TV networks in 13 provinces, regions, and municipalities—including Beijing Gehua, Guangdong, Shanghai Dongfang, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Guizhou, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Anhui, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, and Shenzhen Tianwei—will begin airing the China Media Group’s 4K channel. On September 26, China Media Group coordinated with local cable TV network companies to finalize the technical preparations for launching the 4K channel and distributed comprehensive decoding and decryption equipment necessary for receiving the 4K signal.
