WINDEO Officially Launches the PTZ-4M Portable 8K Multi-Service SDI Over Fiber System
Designed and engineered by the WINDEO product development team, the PTZ-4M portable 8K multi-service optical transmission system is officially unveiled following multiple rounds of functional upgrades and structural redesign.
While inheriting WINDEO’s long-standing reputation for high reliability and premium performance, the PTZ-4M introduces an innovative fully sealed, contact-based thermal conduction design. The chassis is manufactured entirely through full-size CNC machining, offering excellent resistance to temperature extremes, dust, and harsh outdoor conditions—making it ideal for OB vans, field production, and extreme environment broadcasting.

The PTZ-4M supports four channels of 12G-SDI optical transmission (backward compatible with 6G / 3G / HD / SD-SDI and DVB-ASI), along with one 12G-SDI return channel. In addition, it provides one channel of BB & Tri-Level sync signal transmission, enabling local reference signals to be delivered to remote sites for synchronized system construction.
For IP-based applications, the PTZ-4M features dual full-Gigabit Ethernet ports with switch mode, allowing flexible deployment for intercom system expansion, IP control and signal return in remote production workflows, or local and remote network integration.
To further enhance camera, PTZ head, and central control operations, the PTZ-4M integrates a full-duplex RS-422 communication interface, supporting transmission rates of up to 16 Mbps. This enables seamless compatibility with high-speed RCP panels and provides a reliable high-bandwidth communication channel for devices utilizing RS-422 protocols.

A dedicated bi-directional GPIO interface is included and can be used for Tally control or as an isolated remote control interface. It is also suitable for lighting systems, audio systems, and other trigger-based linkage applications.
The PTZ-4M is equipped with a Device ID function, allowing users to assign a unique ID via onboard buttons. The ID is automatically synchronized to the remote unit, which is especially valuable in multi-device deployments. This feature enables clear identification and efficient group management of multiple camera positions and signal paths.

For real-time monitoring, the PTZ-4M integrates two comprehensive status indication systems. Seven groups of LED indicators provide clear visibility of power status, optical link status, and signal lock conditions, even from a distance. Meanwhile, the built-in LCD display delivers detailed system information, including SDI signal format, real-time optical power levels, power supply status, temperature, and LOS (Loss of Signal) counters—greatly facilitating on-site debugging and fault diagnosis.
Although designed as a portable system, the PTZ-4M maintains a dual power supply architecture. To address field scenarios with limited power availability, the remote unit supports DC IN, V-mount battery input, and AC power input, ensuring maximum flexibility across various power environments. Thanks to its low-voltage and low-power design, total system power consumption is less than 7 watts.

The PTZ-4M features a 1U height and half-rack width design. Two units can be horizontally combined into a standard 19-inch rack-mount configuration, allowing easy integration into conventional broadcast racks.

With its rich interface configuration and secure optical transmission capabilities, the PTZ-4M enables users to build scalable, integrated fiber transmission platforms. It provides a safe, stable, and reliable optical transmission solution for sports events, concerts, and large-scale entertainment productions.

Leveraging its proven product reliability and technical excellence, WINDEO proudly delivered comprehensive optical signal transmission solutions for OBS and NBCUniversal (MRH) during the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
